His gives her one of his small, genuine smiles. ]

Yeah, 'course you did. [ A joke, because that's his default mode. ] I missed you, too.

Of course you did. [ Her smile turns into a grin, a little. ] And if it weren't kind of sad to say, I could honestly listen to you tell me that over and over again.

[ She means it as a joke, but it's--one of the sweetest things she ever hears Peter say to her. And it's oddly nice to feel needed, sometimes, even though she knows that it's not his favorite feeling and that sincerity is still a difficult thing to grapple with. ]

She hopes--maybe once the Reaper War is over, if it ever ends with anyone at all being alive (she knows if anyone can pull that off, though, Shep can). ]

We probably should head back in. They're going to give us crap for taking so long.

[ Peter shrugs, but he sits up all the same; he keeps his hand closed around hers, though. ] That's nothing new. I get shit from them all the time.

[ Not as much lately, though. Tiptoeing around egg shells. Broken glass. Testing the waters. It drives him crazy, but Kasumi doesn't need to know that.

He heaves himself up, help her to do the same. ]

C'mon. You should get some rest. Your job must've been rough.
