But, no. I work at an art gallery downtown called Illium. Ever been? And before you say it, yes, I know it sounds more like a nightclub than a gallery.

I was actually gonna say that sounds like some sort of metal. Like aluminum.

But-- yeah, I can see a nightclub vibe, sure. So are you a curator, or...?

Yup. I mostly try to find artwork by younger artists. Increase their exposure and stuff like that, you know?

[ May or may not also secretly be in the business of selling counterfeit paintings?? who knows... ]

That sounds like something way over my head. Never really had an eye for art.

[ Her fingers tap rapidly but quietly against the side of her mug as she looks thoughtful for a moment. ]

Well, then you should swing by sometime and say hi. I could teach you a few things. We can squint our eyes at paintings and talk about composition and colors. Bring your beret and your best snooty accent.

Or I could stare and stare and stare at a painting, like Cameron in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and have an existential crisis.

Either way, fun times for me, right?

I love that movie. And definitely fun times. Plus, you get to hang out with me, which is a huge plus?

[ He smiles, a shoulder lifting in a shrug. ]

I mean, it couldn't hurt. Assumin', of course, you can still stand hangin' out with me after this.

[ She returns his smile with one of her own. She won’t lie to herself; their occasional stolen glances in the hallway and now-and-then elevator smalltalk have amounted to somewhat of a small crush on Kasumi’s part.

So she hasn’t really minded the intrusion. ]

Oh, I think I’ll be fine. Besides, I’m pretty sure anyone else on our floor would have slammed the door in your face.

[ God knows the rest of their neighbors aren’t any fun. Especially that guy Bau who lives by the elevators—he always seems so suspicious of her, for no real reason? ]

[ He huffs out a laugh. ]

[ He opens his mouth to add something -- probably something flirty about how no one else on their floor is as attractive as she is, anyway, when he hears a door slam. It's suspiciously nearby. Peter jumps to his feet, moving to Kasumi's door to look out the peep hole. ]
