seriously though at least give me a heads up next time!
it's got some tracks that i haven't officially released yet and i don't wanna wake up in the morning to see that sombra leaked all my singles online.........
[ Lú being upset at her would basically be a fate worse than death. ]
listen tho if sombra leaks anything, you could make it work for you. bc I mean all the tracks are soooo good even if they're not not all finished gets ^o^
[ If someone had asked Arthur fifteen, even ten years ago what he thought he’d be doing with his life, joining Overwatch would not have been one of them. His studies then had been purely academic, born out of a thirst for knowledge than any actual desire to help.
But with a world slowly coming apart at the seams as some force behind the scenes keeps tugging at the loose threads, it’s hard to ignore a call for help like that.
So, here he is, feeling entirely out of his depth, and only slightly less so than when he was first introduced to some of the core members of the team. (He got to shake hands with the infamous Angela Ziegler. The Angela Ziegler. Small wonder he didn’t faint.) And here he is as well, with a partner younger than he even is. He knows enough about Hana Song to know she’s a pro-gamer turned soldier, though video games are so far off his radar as to be a whole different language to him.
Their “probationary mission”, as it’s been put, is fairly simple on paper. Some whack-job has been yanking omnics off the street and messing with their core programing, setting them loose in the city with a penchant for violence and little regard for how many people they hurt or how badly. His workshop-slash-base has already been located, they just need someone to kick down the door.
He’s milling around the cargo area of the plane that’s delivering them to their drop point, and he spots Hana’s mech, bright pink stark against the cold gray of the cargo bay. Arthur has always been fascinated by machines like this, so he’s just gonna poke around a bit. Don’t mind him. ]
[ a voice chirps from around the other side of the mech. It's the pilot, Hana Song. She's actually been around the backside of the mech checking for one last time that everything's in top order (she can't risk messing up on this tutorial run, obviously) but given her rather petite stature, it's likely she was easily missed.
For Hana's part, stepping up to the Recall is like a logical career move. While her superiors at MEKA aren't entirely happy about having to basically share D.Va and even let her keep using their mech while she presumably goes on missions for Overwatch - they can't deny that it's a good move in the long run. There are definite lulls between the colossal omnic's attacks, after all - why deny the country's beloved hero more opportunities to show what a success she (and MEKA) are? And Hana, naturally, embraces such opportunities to show off, especially to an organization like Overwatch. While its influence and prominence were waning through her childhood, Hana's father always told her stories about its 'golden days' with stars in his eyes. How sweet would it be if his daughter then became part of its second iteration?
In any case. Hana rounds the mech so that she's standing next to it now, folding her arms at Arthur and squinting a little at him. ]
[ Ever since Bruce took Tim under his wing at the same time that Batman took a new Robin under his (coincidence!?), Tim's had nothing but toys, toys, and toys. Things he'd once coveted (like a supercomputer), things he'd once stolen (like a batarang), and things he'd once dreamed about (like a loving father) all seem to have been brought to Tim on a silver platter. And it's a silver platter that Alfred had nothing to do with!
In any case, Tim's hit the big time. He's got a robust internet presence as a Neopets and Club Penguin all-star. And recently, he's even made his first consistent internet friend that wasn't creepy!
He texts her in their direct messages on Cacophony, that hip new voice and text chat software that gamers are using. ]
timichanga: hey peppy hare, what's your race and class in war of worldcraft again?
[ So, here is one (1) Hana 'D.Va' Song, nearly fresh out of a harrowing yet heroic encounter with omnics. Don't worry, though, because the media and any news reports indicate that she has `emerged without a scratch`, if one considers an arm in a sling and a leg in a cast and a few other nicks as such.
She's sure acting like they're only a scratch, considering she's up and about and working on her mech. ]
(( open thread! let me know if this is OW canon au/crossover, or game crau, etc.! ))
[ And Tim's watching her from below, not without a few scratches of his own. Silently, he'd entered the chamber, having made nary a sound in his approach. Though he was clad in his Red Robin costume, his unmasked face revealed a few adhesive bandages - no doubt to mend what's been left by rogue omnics. Many more cuts and bruises laid hidden beneath all the red and black spandex, but this was not the time or place for that.
Tim didn't wanna overstay his welcome, or at the very least stay silent for too long. He already felt a bit creepy just standing there looking up at Hana, Tim positioned just behind what her peripherals could see. So finally, he cleared his throat to signal his presence. Tim continued looking up at her, never quite capable of willing away an admiring twinkle in his eye.
After what had happened, though, there was probably no use hiding it at this point.
Tim also caught the stray wrench that fell the moment Hana acknowledged him. If he hadn't, it would've knocked him square in the forehead.
He appraised it in his grip before looking back at Hana, never quite capable of looking away for long. ]
Wow, Hana. You sure don't waste any time.
[ He spoke without judgment, being quite the workaholic himself. ]
Would you like some help? It's the least I could do after you, uh... saved my life.
[ Where she was expecting to hear a loud clang - the sound of metal hitting metal - there was a distinct lack of such. And in its stead she heard Tim's voice. It brought a smile across her lips, something faint and rare but precious and for Tim and Tim only. ]
And you're not supposed to be here.
[ But he had snuck his way in. She knew. He always did - and at this point she hardly cared. The way she'd said it, too, had no indication that she was actually bothered by this. It sounded fond, in fact.
She held her hand out toward him, expecting the wrench back in her hand promptly as she looked down at him from her perch atop her mech-in-progress. ]
[ Hana's fondness was appreciated, what with Tim's complexion subtly reddening at her gaze. He handed her the wrench, smiling back at her all the while. ]
What can I say? I'm a rebel without a cause.
[ It's hard to gauge if Tim actually meant (or believed) that, but they're both aware he lies to Batman on the regular. Surely that counted for something. ]
Yes, and because it was your job, I think some repayment is in order.
[ Before he could elaborate, he took a marker out of his utility belt. ]
But before I forget... I don't think I ever got a chance to sign one of your casts.
